ELLETTSVILLE — The Richland-Bean Blossom Community School Corp. is not alone in struggling to find enough substitute teachers, said Jerry Sanders, R-BB superintendent.

At Tuesday evening’s meeting, the school board unanimously approved working with Kelly Services, a staffing agency school corporations use to provide substitute teachers. This will go into effect for the 2020-21 school year.

“We’ve done a lot of work over the last couple of years considering the possibility of using Kelly Services,” Sanders said. “We wanted to make sure that this was the right choice.”

During a work session last month, Kelly Services gave a presentation to the board. Sanders said R-BB has a 74% rate of being able to fill classrooms that need substitutes. With Kelly Services, the target rate is 90%, and Sanders said he hopes for even better.

“We owe it to our students, our classroom teachers and our substitute teachers to go with Kelly Services,” Sanders said
