WFIU’s programming lineup will be reverting to what it was in June after listeners rose up in discontent, mainly expressing opposition to the public radio station’s removal of its Saturday opera performance.

Hundreds of listeners, as well as members of WFIU’s community advisory board, were upset when station operations director Will Murphy opted to ax Saturday’s live broadcast of “The Metropolitan Opera” from New York in favor of a Sunday night “World of Opera” performance, citing poor listenership on Saturday afternoons.

Murphy said the switch back comes after board members said they felt “disrespected” by not being involved in the initial decision to flip opera programs and hinted they may reconsider their “plans for the future,” referring to donations to the station.
