A notice was received Tuesday from County Auditor Beth Myers indicated the Board of Commissioners will meet in special session June 30 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed jail project. The meeting will be held in the Circuit Courtroom on the third floor of the courthouse.

The notice emphasized that, although this is public meeting, the public will not be allowed to speak or ask questions about the jail project.

Commissioners have invited members of the County Council to be present and participate in the discussion.

The notice indicated that commissioners “will receive information, ask questions and discuss the proposed construction of a new jail.”

The notice further states “the meeting will be open to the public (subject to the limitation required to maintain social distancing, and subject to the requirement of face covering).”

“The Board’s intent is for this meeting to be for the information, discussion and questions of the Board and the Council members in attendance without public participation and to adjourn no later than 8 p.m.,” the notice ended.
