MUNCIE — The Delaware County Health Department (DCHD) on Tuesday afternoon announced that more individuals within Delaware County have tested positive for SAR-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19 infection.

The three new positive tests bring the Delaware County total to seven confirmed cases, including one confirmed death from the virus.

Jammie Bane, administrator with the Delaware County Health Department, said in a release from the health department that the latest positive tests are from a female over the age of 60 and two males over the age of 50. No additional information about the patients will be released at this time due to privacy laws.

The Delaware County coroner's office announced Monday morning it had been made aware of another possible COVID-19-related death in Delaware County, but the cause of death has not been confirmed as officials await official testing.

Bane also said that the DCHD is working closely with the local and state officials to ensure that contacts of the patient are identified and that all infection control protocols are being followed.
