The Indiana State Department of Health on Thursday reported 970 new COVID-19 cases, the second-highest number of new daily cases reported since the beginning of the pandemic. The only day with more reported cases was July 24, with 1,011.

Thursday’s number marked the 16th time in 17 days that new cases have exceeded 600.

The health department on Thursday also reported that 11,644 new individuals were tested for COVID-19, the sixth-highest daily total so far. Testing has topped 8,000 in 15 of the last 17 days.
