The goal of the five-year grant is to equip students from low-income families, potential-first generation college students and students who have a high risk of academic failure with skills to achieve academic success, Ivy Tech said in a news release.
The grant will serve at least 60 students in grades nine through 12 annually. An Upward Bound office will be located on the campus of Ivy Tech. College coaches will also provide supplemental instruction and tutoring during the academic year at Central High School.
“We are focused on preparing young people to enter the workforce and obtain their career aspirations,” Ivy Tech Chancellor Alex Huskey was quoted as saying. “Funding from the Upward Bound grant will help Muncie-area students be more prepared for academic success and expand their professional opportunities.”
