Advanced Materials Development is a subsidiary of Fort Wayne Metals Research Products Corp. The company manufactures precision wire and related components for use in medical devices and other applications.
The company, located at 2300 E. Cardinal Drive in Gateway Park in Columbia City, employs 41 people and will add 15 additional jobs.
The Whitley County Council approved a 10-year tax abatement in support of the project, at the request of the Whitley County EDC.
The company plans to invest $12 million in new equipment at the facility to expand its melting capacity for producing stainless steel, nickel, cobalt, nitinol and titanium alloys, and composite materials.
The expansion will help the company develop materials for various wire forms with improved characteristics such as higher corrosion resistance, strength, fatigue resistance and wear resistance for the medical device industry, according to the statement.
