FORT WAYNE – Vouchers. Charters. Merit pay. Gov. Mitch Daniels and his Republican allies believe they’re on the cutting edge of education reform.
But at least one education expert thinks they’re getting it all wrong.
Diane Ravitch, New York University professor and author of the best-selling “The Death and Life of the Great American School System,” criticized Indiana’s recent education reforms Tuesday during a lecture at IPFW.
More than 1,100 people gathered in the Rhinehart Music Center to hear Ravitch, who said proponents of the national “corporate reform” agenda intent on privatizing schools seemed determined to ruin public education.
