Organizers of the Kokomo Downtown Farmers’ Market will have a call-out meeting Thursday for artists and crafters.
Plans are in place to launch the Kokomo Downtown Makers’ Art Market this summer.
The event will run on Saturdays from June 16 through Aug. 18 alongside the farmers’ market in a city parking lot on Union Street downtown. The dates are during the farmers’ market’s peak season, which drew an estimated 500 to 800 people each week last year.
Market Master Mandy Wright-Jarrett said the new market is looking for artists, scientists and anyone else who can conduct demonstrations for visitors.
“The idea behind it is to create a market where people can come and witness all the people ... participating in or demonstrating something,” Wright-Jarrett said.
Vendors will be allowed to sell their wares, but they must have a demonstration, she said.
