Holiday World to reopen Kentucky Kingdom park as Bluegrass Boardwalk

Evansville Courier & Press

— Holiday World officials announced Thursday a deal has been struck to reopen the old Kentucky Kingdom park in Louisville, Ky.

Under the new name Bluegrass Boardwalk, the park will open in May 2013, creating 800 seasonal jobs.

“We’re bringing our business model of exceptional safety, cleanliness, friendliness and value for families,” says Natalie Koch. “That means free soft drinks, free sunscreen and free use of inner tubes.”

Koch is the granddaughter of Holiday World’s founder, Louis J. Koch, who opened the park (originally called Santa Claus Land) in 1946.

She is one of four members of the Koch family partnering for the Bluegrass Boardwalk venture.

The others are her brother, Holiday World President Dan Koch, their cousin Kathy Kamp, and her husband, Michael Kamp, a general manager at Holiday World.
