FREMONT — For the first time in years, two new businesses are getting ready to open in Fremont on the main street at the same time, while a longtime anchor store closed.
Fremont Town Manager Chris Snyder announced at Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Fremont Town Council that Stroh’s Furniture, 106 W. Toledo St., closed after more than 50 years. The business was purchased by an Ohio couple, Jason and Kerry King, who plan to open another furniture store.
“Technically, it’s been Stroh’s for 50-plus years owned by Bud and Deb Stroh. It’s been an anchor. We’re glad to have a furniture store going in,” Snyder said.
“They said they’re looking forward to getting involved in the community,” Snyder said.
Snyder said the Kings are doing some remodeling on the store before they open.
On the same block, Dona Bradbury is expected to open a restaurant, Dona’s Buffet, at 103 E. Toledo St. at the beginning of March.
